ARJE Jazz Video Lessons

Below is a collection of instructional videos available to students and teachers.  These videos cover a wide variety of concepts that are helpful to beginning and advanced players alike.  

The Music Fundamentals Series offers basic lessons in harmony, intervals, scale construction, and transposition.

The Advanced Concepts Series offers offers tips and tricks for players with a solid jazz vocabulary wanting to take it even further.

A collection of tracks to use as a laboratory for your own ideas.

Similar to the Major Key Center Exercises, but these use a locrian mode for the first scale, Phrygian Dominant for the second scale, and Harmonic Minor for the last scale.  This exercise is one strategy to play a minor 2-5-1.

Learning the Language Series takes your skills to the next level through learning the harmonic language of jazz one chord and scale at a time.

These videos focus on strategies for soloing on the changes of the All-State audition material.

These videos include backing tracks for the All-State key center scale exercises. 

Similar to the Major Key Center Exercises, but these use an Aeloian b5 mode for the first scale, the Altered scaled for the second scale, and Jazz Minor for the last scale.  This exercise is another strategy to play a minor 2-5-1.
